Criteria for Review
JournalLing reviews papers on a 20 point scale, with 5 points in each of the following categories:
- Clarity and Presentation
- Accuracy
- Originality and Significance of Article
- Argumentation
Each article is reviewed anonymously by two members of our editorial team. Papers must recieve a minimum score of 16/20 to be accepted into JournalLing. This is in line with our minimum grade requirement of A- (80%). This score is a pass/fail threshold, and a higher score does not mean papers will be ranked higher than other passing papers. The final decision on acceptance is made by our Editors-in-Cheif.
Papers that recieved a grade below A- in the class they were written for may be submitted under special cirsumstances, i.e., if the paper has been worked on since the grade was given. Please explain any special circumstances in the comment box upon submission.
Our review sheet template can be found here.
Reviews are conducted on a rolling basis, but final decisions will be given at the end of the call for submissions period each year. If your paper does not pass the first review, you are encouraged to make changes and submit a second time. Review sheets with comments will be provided. After the second review, decisions are final.
